Playa Flamingo Information
There is no village so to speak of around Flamingo Beach, thus life beyond the beach is limited. Visitors looking for an escape should head to nearby Brasilito, or beyond. The community that extends east of Flamingo Beach is mostly home to exclusive beachfront luxury Resorts and coveted private property that is being developed at an astonishing rate. Amongst the first of Costa Rica’s beaches to receive international attention, Flamingo Beach has evolved to one of the most lavish areas in the nation.
Not far south of the Coco Beaches is Marino Las Baulas National Park (Parque Nacional Marino las Baulas), allowing visitors the once in a lifetime opportunity to see the arribadas of the leatherback, pacific green, and hawksbill turtles, when masses of turtles—sometimes thousands—storm the coast to lay their eggs.
The close by Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport offers seamless travel to Flamingo Beach by way of paved road. The smaller Tamarindo Airport received domestic flights from around the country, from which visitors are a very short taxi or bus ride away from Flamingo Beach. Bus and car is a six hour ride from San José along the Inter-American Highway.
