This lush, mountainous area offers two outstanding Reserves for your exploration, the Santa Elena and Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserves. There are also a number of Canopy Tours available, Bird Watching tours, ATV tours, and fascinating insect museums to visit.
Vista Verde Lodge is located in San Gerardo, 9 kilometers from the center of Santa Elena. The hotel has 100 hectares of property with scenic views of the majestic Arenal Volcano and Lake. Visitors will feel right at home with the friendly family style atmosphere. Guests can use the three cloud forest trails, rich in plant and animal life, exclusively reserved for hotel guests. There is also a rustic restaurant and bar affording stunning views of the surrounding forest.
Guests can choose from the eight comfortable standard rooms or two Junior Suites, all with commanding views of the active side of the Arenal Volcano. Next door to reception, and in a separate building, is where guests can find the eight standard rooms, complete with a private bathroom with hot water and balcony with views. In the main building are the Jr. Suites, close to reception and the bar.
