El Viandante is located in the quaint mountain town of Monteverde, in the northern province of Puntarenas. High in the Tilaran Mountain Range you will come upon the quaint villages of Monteverde and Santa Elena, the town center. Though warm, sunny days are not rare, the climate tends to be cool and misty. Come prepared with some warm clothes and raingear, as you&ll be entering the cloud forest.

This eco-tourist destination is renowned for the majestic Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, canopy walks and guided day and night walks in the rainforest. Equally renowned are the Quaker inhabitants that migrated in the 1950's from North America, establishing dairy farms and a cheese factory. Adjoining Monteverde is the town of Santa Elena, where you&ll find restaurants, shops, banks, tour offices and a police station.
A simple breakfast is served each morning along with delicious Costa Rican Coffee. Cable TV can be found in the common room as well as a small library for those that wish to read. Mountain bike rentals and luggage storage are available to guests, as well.
With the hopes of sharing Monteverde&s natural beauty with others, the owners, Renzo and Grace, created El Viandante hotel, their labor of love. There are twenty cozy rooms with private bathrooms, hot water and single and double beds with orthopedic mattresses.
